This tutorial provides you an essential foundation or introduction to learn Photoshop in the beginner guide. The lesson will cover basic knowledge creating a new document, basic elements tool in Photoshop, layer and groups in Photoshop.
Lesson 1: Creating a New Document in Photoshop
New document in Photoshop means that creating essentially a blank canvas. Once you have created the canvas (the document), you can then import images, photo editing, image manipulation, cropping images, Adding text to images, organizing photos for quick access, drawing on an image with a pen or pencil and more.
- Open Photoshop.
- Click the “Create new” button to create a new Photoshop document.
- The New Document dialog box will open to the Custom or other choices.
- Fill the document size on the right panel.
- Click Create.
Once you have been created, now you can see a new document area in Photoshop.
Lesson 2: Basic Elements Tools in Photoshop
Photoshop Elements is a tool-rich program provides you a toolbox in Quick and Expert modes to help you for accomplishing nearly any task. There are more than 50 tools available in the panel, and they are grouped together based on similarity. Tools with similar names and functions are stored together in tool groups. You can use the tools in the toolbox to select, enhance, draw, and view images.

What is a Layer in Photoshop? Layers contain the images, text, or objects that make up a layered file. They let you move, edit, and work with content on one layer without affecting content on other layers. Layers are arranged in a stack in the Layers panel, which is usually located in the bottom right of the work area.
What is a Layer Group in Photoshop? Layer groups can help you organize a document in Adobe Photoshop to make it easier to work with several layers at once and make easier to find text and other design elements.
If the Layers panel is not visible, choose Window > Layers.
Lesson 4: Using Workspace, Tools, and Panels in Photoshop
Workspace in Photoshop is an area to create and manipulate documents and files using various elements. The options feature on Workspace such as Essentials (default), 3D, Graphic and Web, Motion, Painting, Photography, panels, bars, and windows and etc.
Panels in Photoshop has much functionality such as resize, expand, and convert panels to icons, save to favorite workspaces and much more.
